I am Kim Olson and I serve as the East Elementary School librarian.  My role includes teaching weekly library classes to kindergarten through third grades.  I also teach library skills and reading to third grade students.  The weekly library classes consist of reading books to students and grade appropriate activities relating to the book that has been read.  The library skills classes include books and activities relevant to understanding library organization, locating books, comparing genres, call numbers and parts of books.  The reading classes use texts and worksheets based on the school curriculum.  In addition to these common instruction materials, grammar and vocabulary activities, reading strategies and academic games are used to supplement teaching.
